Q: When will I get my IRS tax refund?
A: Before you find out when you’ll receive your tax refund, you should make sure that your federal tax return has been received. You can begin checking status of
your e-filed tax return 24 to 48 hours after e-file. The IRS asks you wait 4 weeks before checking your refund status using Where’s My Refund? if you filed through the mail. The IRS Where’s My Refund tool will show “Return Received” status once they begin processing your tax return. You will receive a personalized refund date once your tax return is processed and your tax refund is approved.
Last year, 9 out of 10 e-filers received their IRS tax refund in less than 21 days, and we expect the same this year. For paper-filers, the process does take more time.
