Postgraduate Study - How to apply
The particular entry requirements for each course are given in the individual postgraduate course listings. As a general rule, you will need the equivalent of a UK honours degree at second-class standard or higher and if English is not your first language you will need to provide an appropriate qualification. Staff will be happy to advise on the acceptability of your qualifications before you apply. International students please also see the relevant section.
Looking for general advice about studying a Postgraduate course? 'Steps to Postgraduate Study' is a new website (2015) providing information for students who are making decisions about postgraduate taught (PGT) study. Access the website, Steps to Postgraduate Study (opens in new window).
Anyone applying from a country where English is not the first language is required to show evidence of English language competence, obtaining at least an IELTS score of 6.5 (with no subtest lower than 5.5) or hold a previous degree which has been taught and examined in English, unless the specific entry for the course indicates otherwise.
A comparative IELTS score to other English Language qualifications is available on the International website .
Making an Application
Each course page has a link to the application form for that particular course. There is no application
The online application will allow you to complete your personal details and enter your qualifications (those completed or those you are still studying for). You can also upload your personal statement and scanned/pdf copies of transcripts and copies of certificates. When you make an application you will be given a web login to allow you to track the progress of your application, and submit any further information required prior to the submission of your application. Full details are given on the website.
Please note that we encourage you to apply as soon as possible, and before you complete any qualifications required for entry, including English language tests where appropriate. You will need to include a personal statement, explaining why you are applying for the particular course and including details of any relevant work or professional experience. You will need to supply Keele University with originals or certified copies of relevant qualifications before you will be allowed to enrol at Keele.
If you are an international applicant there is further information about agents and visas on the pages for international applicants .
