How to Find Out Who is the Holder of a Mortgage Note

My question involves a mortgage in the state of: California

1.New Century Mortgage was the lender in Nov 2006. A note and deed were recorded with the county recorder. Neither the note nor the deed were signed/indorsed by the lender. In the deed New Century nominated MERS as the beneficiary.

2.In Feb 2007 New Century, without any indorsement, transferred the property to a securitized trust with Goldman Sachs (GSAMP) as the Depositor.

3.20 days later Goldman Sachs sold said trust to Fannie Mae, again without indorsement. This was one of 40 trusts totaling 11.1 billion.

4.In April 2007 New Century filed for bankruptcy, in Federal Court.

5.In March 2008, New Century repudiated MERS as beneficiary, with bankruptcy court approval.

6.In January 2009 MERS assigned deed

(not note) from New Century to GSAMP with Bank of America as Trustee.

7.In October 2010 I filed suit for Fraud and several other causes of action.

8.In September 2011 Fannie Mae sued Goldman Sachs in Federal Court to rescind the purchase of all 40 trusts.

9.I recently filed a motion to add names of additional Does an action for Declaratory Relief.

In light of the US Supreme Court ruling in Carpenter v. Longan “The note and mortgage are inseparable; the former as essential, the latter as an incident. An assignment of the note carries the mortgage with it, while an assignment of the latter alone is a nullity.” who holds the note?
