In the begining of term 4, my Social Studies teacher emailed my mom and said he was concerned that I was failing Social Studies. He also said I didn't turn in one of the assignments, which is worth 10% of my grade and cannot be made up.

The week the assignment was due was when I was absent due to being sick with bronchitis. Also, the week I came back was when I was busy writing an essay for a contest in my state.

Now, I understand that it is my responsibility to turn in my own work and being absent and forgetting to turn the assignment in is not an excuse. However, I'm not in High School or Collage, I am just a 7th grader. My grades are usually pretty descent as I get A's and B's pretty much all

the time.

10% of my final grade is a lot. In fact, according to my older sister, losing 10% of a final grade is already losing an entire letter grade. That means I can only get a B or lower. I've also been getting a few bad grades on my tests, which is so unlike me. I always strive to be the best I can be. Also, my parents are extremely strict and were extremely dissapointed in me. "How can you be failing so early in term?" they asked me.

My teacher said he MIGHT give extra credit in June to the entire class, but I need to get as much extra credit as possible. My parents are getting really angry at me and have banned me from watching TV and going on the computer. They are also constantly telling me to read my text books and memorize every page, which seems really ridiculous. So, my question is, How do I convince my teacher to give me extra credit? I really need to get some, and that "MIGHT" is really not convincing me that I'll get any extra credit at all.

Update: Oops. Sorry. In the begining I said "grade", not "final grade".
