Q. Why do I need to purchase shares?
Each applicant for membership must subscribe for ten shares costing $10.00 each. It is a condition of membership that the ten $10.00 shares be maintained at all times. Each member shares in the ownership of The Credit Union, and at the Annual or any Special Meeting and subject to by-laws, has one vote on any question requiring a vote. Under the concept "one person - one vote" a member may not maintain accounts in different locations and should operate under one account number.
A dividend may be paid on this deposit. The $100.00 share account is kept separate from other money on deposit. It is refunded when the account is closed
Additional shares can not be purchased. Each member participates equally in the ownership of Ontario Civil Service Credit Union Ltd. at the Annual General Meeting and at any special meeting. As a member, you are subject to the by-laws of The Credit Union and have one vote on any question requiring a vote.
