Collecting Nectar points with the AA

How can I collect Nectar points with the AA?

You can collect base Nectar points at the rate of two points per £1 spent on the following qualifying AA products:
  • AA Breakdown Cover, all types of cover are eligible at purchase and renewal
  • Breakdown Repair Cover
  • European Breakdown Cover, bought as trip or annual cover

To claim the points when you purchase on the phone or online, simply register your Nectar card number and any relevant promotional offer code with us. To buy AA Breakdown Cover for yourself or your family and collect Nectar points online go to www.theaa.com/nectar.

We allow 30 days from the date of purchase or renewal to register a valid Nectar card number – call 0800 477 499 (for membership). If you are an existing customer and have received a renewal notice you can register a valid Nectar card number by calling 0800 477 499 (for membership).

You will not be able to collect Nectar points on:

  • All AA insurance products
  • AA Driving School
  • Car Data Checks
  • Fleet Breakdown products

How long does it take for Nectar points collected at the AA to show on my Nectar statement?

Quote your Nectar card number and any relevant promotional offer code when buying a qualifying AA membership product by phone or online, and your Nectar points will be credited to your Nectar account within 28 days.

Can I collect Nectar points if I buy my AA membership from any outlet, for example, from an AA patrol?

Yes, you can collect Nectar points whenever you buy AA membership – by phone, online, or directly from one of our patrols or representatives at motorway service areas or shopping centres. If you buy AA membership from one of our patrols or representatives, simply call us on 0800 477 499 within 30 days of making your purchase and quote your Nectar card number. Your Nectar points will then be credited to your Nectar account within 28 days.

Can I collect Nectar points if I buy AA membership for someone else, for instance as a gift?

Yes you can collect points as long as you provide us with your valid Nectar card number at the time of purchasing, or up to 30 days after the purchase date. Can I collect Nectar points if I'm already an AA member and want to buy additional cover?

Yes, as an existing AA member you can collect Nectar points when upgrading your existing AA Breakdown Cover, or upgrading when renewing. If you are a member and have received a renewal notice, you can register a valid Nectar card number by calling 0800 477 499. To upgrade your cover simply call 0800 477 499 and quote your Nectar card number and any relevant promotional offer code.

Can I collect Nectar points on all AA products?

  • Customers who receive AA membership cover free of charge as part of an arrangement with a vehicle manufacturer or Fleet, do not qualify for Nectar points.
  • Customers who receive AA membership cover as part of their Lloyds TSB current account can only collect Nectar points on products they upgrade to.

Can I collect Nectar points on my Fleet or business breakdown cover?

No, Nectar points are not available on any of the Fleet Breakdown Cover products.

Can I redeem Nectar points at the AA?

Currently you can collect points on qualifying AA products, but you are not able to redeem Nectar points for AA products. There are so many things that you can treat yourself to using your Nectar points. And the more points you've got, the bigger the treats that you can get.

How do I collect Nectar points if I make regular payments – for instance via an annual direct debit?

If you purchase AA membership annually by a recurring payment arrangement, for example by direct debit, you can collect base Nectar points at two points per £1 spent on your annual membership. When you receive your renewal letter from us, call us on 0800 477 499 and register your Nectar card number.

I've recently bought AA membership, but forgot to give my Nectar card details. Can I still collect Nectar points?

Yes – call us on 0800 477 499 within 30 days of purchasing or renewing your AA membership and speak to our Member Services team. Give them your Nectar card number and your Nectar points will be credited to your Nectar account within 28 days. You can also register when you receive your next renewal notification, which will ensure you collect Nectar points for that and all subsequent renewals.

How do I find out how many Nectar points I've got?

Nectar points you have collected on qualifying AA products will be credited to your Nectar account in 28 days. Go to www.nectar.com and register to be able to check your Nectar balance online, or see your quarterly points update mailing from Nectar listing the points you have collected from all the Nectar sponsors.

Points from my AA Breakdown Cover purchase have not appeared on my statement. Why not?

If you have purchased AA Breakdown Cover within the last 28 days, the points may not have been added to your account yet. If you are still concerned about this, please call 0800 477 499 for help.

The points on my Nectar statement for my AA Breakdown Cover purchase are incorrect. What should I do?

If you have any queries about the number of Nectar points collected on your AA Breakdown Cover, call 0800 477 499.

What happens to my Nectar points if I cancel my AA membership?

AA membership can be cancelled in writing within 28 days of purchase or within 14 days of renewal. If you cancel within this time any Nectar points issued will be claimed back from your Nectar account.

My Nectar card has been lost/stolen/damaged. What should I do?

Simply go to www.nectar.com where you can manage your own account. Alternatively call the Nectar Helpline team on 0844 811 0 811 – they're available Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm, and weekends 9am to 5pm.

We'll send you a replacement card, and more importantly, ensure any points you have already collected are safe.
