How often do you change the balls for the live drawings?
There are multiple sets of balls rotated daily for each of our live drawing games. A card is selected each drawing to indicate the set of balls to be used for that draw. The balls for all games are rotated or changed at least once a month. In addition, all lottery balls used for the drawings are routinely checked and certified by the New Jersey Office of Weights and Measures.
How can players be sure that Lottery games are really games of chance?
The New Jersey Lottery, by law, must be a "game of chance." Our drawings are completely random and the New Jersey Lottery takes precautions to ensure that each and every drawing held is a random drawing.
All New Jersey Lottery drawings are conducted under the auspices of an independent auditing firm (Mercadian PC ). Each and every drawing is conducted according to a strict set of procedures. The equipment used is randomly selected and thoroughly tested prior to each drawing. All Lottery balls used for the drawings are routinely checked and certified by
the New Jersey Office of Weights and Measures. For security reasons information concerning the drawing procedures and drawing equipment is not publicly available.
All drawings randomly select the winning numbers and each drawing is independent, meaning the outcome of any prior drawing has no influence or bearing on the next drawing. Randomness is infinite and cannot be tested. Only the absence of randomness can be detected.
