Elton John Las Vegas Residency, Solo Tour Dates Ahead for 2015
Sir Elton John will be spending a lot of time in North America again in 2015, as the classic rock legend has added a slew of new dates to his ongoing residency at Caesars Palace, in addition to a handful of solo shows scheduled around the U.S. The Elton John Las Vegas residency will resume on March 18, and a total of at least 17 performances of his adored The Million Dollar Piano show will take place on various dates through the middle of April. As of Jan. 29, no further residency dates have been released, but with John booked through at least 2017, expect more shows to be announced later in the year.
In addition to the residency, the nationwide Elton John tour will pick up again in late February, beginning at Cincinnati’s U.S. Bank Arena (Feb. 27). So far, the “Rocket Man” singer has confirmed at least 10 arena and amphitheater shows around the U.S. through the spring, including stops in Miami (March 6), Greenville, S.C. (March 13), and The Woodlands, Texas (May 1), among others. John will also be one of the headliners during the second weekend of the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival (April 30-May 3).
Barclays Center to Host Elton John NYE 2015 Concert Event
Following in the footsteps of none other than Billy Joel, Sir Elton John has been confirmed for a special Barclays Center concert event in celebration of NYE 2015. New Year’s Eve shows have become a tradition for the popular Brooklyn venue which first hosted Jay Z and Coldplay in 2012 and then Joel the following year. With an international stint in store for November and December, the NYE show will be the final opportunity to catch Elton John live stateside in 2014. As of Sept. 25, a handful of domestic performances remain for the West Coast including Seattle (Sept. 27), Sacramento (Oct. 1), San Jose (Oct. 2), and Los Angeles (Oct. 4-5).
Despite the absence of a formal tour, Elton John still remained relatively busy in
2014 continuing to promote his 2013 release “The Diving Board.” In addition to one-off shows in various cities around the world, the acclaimed singer-songwriter also made time to return to Las Vegas for his ongoing residency of sorts at The Colosseum. As of Sept. 25, no plans have been revealed for 2015 Million Dollar Piano dates or other isolated events, but with the kind of performance schedule John has kept as of late, it’s likely more opportunities will continue to be in store for fans down the road.
Elton John Returns to North America in 2014 with Tour Dates, Las Vegas Residency
In Sept. 2013, Elton John released “The Diving Board,” the latest in his celebrated discography of more than 25 studio albums. Though the singer completed a short U.S. tour in the fall to support the release, he’s also made plans to return stateside in Feb. 2014 for a handful of North and South American concerts in the early months of the year. The first North American concert will take place at the Covelli Centre in Youngstown, Ohio. Along the way, the Kennedy Center Honoree will also stop in more than 10 cities, among them Montreal (Feb. 5), Ottawa (Feb. 13), Dallas (March 13), and New Orleans (March 21). His final performance on the spring dates is scheduled for Bossier City, La. where John will perform at the CenturyLink Center on March 22.
Soon after the cross-continent dates are completed, John will return to Las Vegas to continue his lauded residency at The Colosseum. The Million Dollar Piano is slated to return to the stage with more than 15 performances from March 29-April 26. As of Jan. 21, no additional residency dates have been announced for 2014.
Brief U.S. Tour on the Way for Elton John
With his long-running Las Vegas show, The Million Dollar Piano, scheduled to conclude on Oct. 12, Elton John has already plotted out a series of tour dates to keep busy throughout the rest of 2013. Just less than a month after his Caesars Palace stint comes to an end; Elton and his band will head back out on the road for domestic and international shows throughout November and December, beginning in Bridgeport, Conn. on Nov. 8. The domestic portion of the tour will only feature 13 dates, though at a wide range of cities and venues, with New York’s Madison Square Garden hosting the two-night grand finale from Dec. 3-4.
Fans in attendance at an upcoming show will surely be treated to familiar classics from Elton’s award-winning song catalog, but also expect to hear some new tunes off his first solo album in seven years, “Diving Board,” released on Sept. 24. The 30th studio album of his career was met with the usual critical acclaim, an impressive feat for the 66-year-old legend who credits long-time writer Bernie Taupin for much of the success and praise his work has garnered over the years.
