Ceramic tile is lovely and easy to care for, but over time, it can appear dull instead of shiny. Often this is due to a buildup of cleaning products used on the tile in the past. With regular cleaning using simple cleaning products, tile is very easy to keep clean and shiny. For special occasions, buffing the floor makes it extra shiny. Regardless, ceramic tile does not require constant scrub cleaning to remain in good shape. Owners should learn the correct way to bring back the shine.
Follow a Cleaning Routine
One of the keys to keeping ceramic tile shiny and new looking is to clean it often and to following a routine. This does not mean scrubbing it daily, but sweeping or vacuuming daily is a routine to follow.
For light cleaning, mix
equal parts white vinegar and water in a spray bottle. Spray a small area with the solution and use a microfiber dust mop on the damp area. Spray small areas at a time until the entire floor is shining. Once the tile is clean, it should only need light mopping every few days.
Fill a bucket with warm water. Add 1 to 2 drops of mild dish soap to the water. Too much soap actually attracts dirt, so less is more when it comes to deep cleaning floors. Dip the mop into the bucket, and then wring it until it is just damp. Mop small areas of the floor, and then buff the floor dry with a microfiber cloth. Continue until the entire area is clean and shiny.
