Insurance policy cancellation letter is written to the insurance company when one intends to cancel a particular policy. Before you write the letter, you should contact the insurer to authenticate the addresses that the letter should be mailed to.

You should also read the terms and conditions to make sure that they comply with the agreement to avoid penalties. Do ask if there is a refund or a balance that they need to clear before the cancellation date.

The letter should start with the date, the address information of the insurance company and your policy account number. When writing it due to some poor service or treatment provided, you might show displeasure in your writing.

However, always make sure that the letter is kept polite and straight to the point. Being rude only makes the situation worse hence; it’s

good to keep it polite. Before you end the letter, show that you expect this insurance company to send you a formal confirmation stating that the cancellation has been put to effect.

The letter should be ended with a closing line such as “Yours Faithfully” and one should not forget to put a signature as well as their full names at the end of the letter. Here is a sample of such a letter.
