What is AIB?
Founded in 1919, the AIB (American Institute of Baking) is a not-for-profit corporation founded as a technology center for bakers and food processors.
What are AIB Standards?
The AIB standards were developed to evaluate handling operations, product safety, and compliance against a group of globally recognized food safety and manufacturing, production and warehousing standards. The AIB standards are a combination of food safety standards issued by a variety of global organizations including the U.S. Department of Health and Welfare, Food and Drug Administration, Good Manufacturing Practices, and Military Standards.
AIB performs an annual audit, focusing on our food safety program, pest control, operational methods, personnel practices, maintenance for food safety, and cleaning
Why is certification to AIB standards important?
It provides assurance to our customers and our manufacturers that all of our products are stored in and distributed from a qualified warehouse that meets the highest standards for food safety and sanitation. Some of our manufacturers require us to meet those high standards in order to be a distributor of their products.
Our goal is to meet, or surpass, customer expectations by being the most reliable, quality-conscious distributor of pet products in Southern California. Thanks to our dedicated employees, we are achieving that goal.
UPP has always achieved a Superior rating — the highest rating possible — and has earned two perfect scores.
