Monica Brand. Senior Director of Research and Development for ACCION International, focusing in the areas of new product development, marketing, and business process re-engineering. Prior to ACCION, Ms Brand worked two years for the Development Fund in San Francisco, helping the design and launch of a $50 million statewide lending intermediary to finance small business and community facilities. Monica received Masters of Business Administration (MBA) and Masters of Education (MA Ed) degrees from Stanford University.
Gloria Almeyda is responsible for Project Development & Technical Services for Africa and Latin America with the World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU). Throughout her academic and professional life she has focused in enterprise development
and financial services for low-income groups. She is the author of Money Matters. a monograph published by the IDB about a comparison of microfinance services provided banks, credit unions and NGOs in six Latin American countries. Ms. Almeyda holds a Masters Degree, with a specialization in Finance & International Business, from the School of Business of the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Rupert Scofield. FINCA International’s Executive Director, is an agricultural economist with 30 years’ experience in developing countries of Latin America, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. Mr. Scofield helped found FINCA in 1984. Past positions include CEO of Rural Development Services, a consulting company, and country program director of the AFL-CIO’s Labor Program in El Salvador. He has a B.A. from Brown University and an M.A. in agricultural economics and public administration from the University of Wisconsin.
