All vehicles used or kept on public roads in the United Kingdom must have valid road tax. Failing to display a road tax disc on your windshield is a serious offense. The Vehicle Excise and Regulation Act of 1984 empowers the police to remove untaxed vehicles from roads in Britain. You will be fined, and if the fine remains unpaid, your car may be destroyed.
