Hello and thank you fo rusing Just Answer.
The state of New Jersey has about the same time frame as federal when using Direct Deposit. You can call the Automated Tax Information System from a Touch-tone phone (1-800-323-4400 within NJ, NY, PA, DE and MD, or(NNN) NNN-NNNNanywhere) to check the status of your refund if it has been 4 weeks since you e-filed your return.
This is my first time filing so not sure so does the state return come back a month or a 2 weeks after the federal return
Usually about 2 weeks if you e-file. But like I said if it has been 4 weeks since you e-filed then check with the state using the number I supplied and you will be told the status. It will advise when you should expect the refund.
I Tried calling and I couldn't quite understand which to choose from the options the
computer guy gave.Is their a representive I can talk to. but now that I think about it I got my taxes about week in a few days ago
The NJ refund is not tied to federal at all. The important date is when you filed the NJ return and the date it was accepted.
You can get information on the status of your New Jersey income tax refund either online or by phone.
The automated systems can tell you if and when your refund was mailed or the date it was deposited into the bank account you designated when filing. (Direct deposit is only available on returns filed electronically). The systems also allow you to begin the procedure to trace a lost refund check.
