Car tax disks - How to claim back?

how to claim car tax back

My car was recently in a crash, and was written off; but the car was taken away before I could get the tax disk off it. I've tried phoning the insurance company, the recovery company etc, but with no luck as yet. After the 1st of March, I lose a % of the cost back, so I need to sort this asap. Best Answer: You do not require to have the tax disc in order to reclaim unused road tax back.

Hence as quoted as follows:-

Without a tax disc

To get a

refund you’ll need to complete a V33 ‘Refund application where no licence disc is surrendered’. Send the form to Refund Section, DVLA, Swansea SA99 1AL

The V33 form is only available at a DVLA local office or by phoning 0870 240 0010.

Find your nearest DVLA local office

My only other advice is to keep all records you have of your accident with insurance company (dates etc..)- this is all evidence, and proof that your vehicle is off the road, and being handled by an insurance company - should you experience any problems with DVLA.

When you contact DVLA about this, ask for the name of the person you are talking to, and if they can supply a reference number of your conversation. this will insure that you don't lose any amounts due to 1st March etc.

hope this information helps.

AND, remember this good advice was given ONE AND A QUARTER HOURS before WelshLAD
