FONG: USE "WHERE'S MY REFUND" TO TRACK STATE REFUND
BISMARCK, N.D. – Tax Commissioner Cory Fong today encouraged taxpayers who have filed a North Dakota individual income tax return and are expecting a state refund to check out the Tax Department online tool, Where's My Refund.
"Taxpayers who are anticipating a state refund can use the "Where's My Refund" feature on our web site to track the processing of their state refund," said Fong.
By entering a few pieces of information, taxpayers who access the state refund tracking system they will find out:
- If their return has not been processed or received yet;
- If their return is being processed; or
- The date their refund was issued.
Taxpayers will need to provide their Social
Security Number, filing status, and the exact amount of their anticipated refund.
"The Where's My Refund system is a convenient online tool for taxpayers who are eager to receive their state individual income tax refund," said Fong. "The system will help them find accurate and current information on the status of their refund from the comfort of their own home."
So far, the Tax Department has processed nearly 265,000 individual income tax returns, compared to about 267,000 returns at this time in 2010. About 162,000 refunds have been issued so far this year, compared to about 171,000 last year.
